Wedding Wednesday

Lots of big wedding news today at Imperfectly Preppy.  As if my dress' arrival today at my parents' house (Ahhhhhhh!!!!) wasn't enough reason to start 

poppin' bottles, 

but Kelly and I also booked our flights for our Honeymoon! Yay!  


We're headed to 

Paris

and 

Barcelona! 

We're super excited to explore Paris and Barcelona together, especially since neither of us have been to Europe.  Kelly seems to think that I only want to go to these cities to eat and drink.  But, with an abundance of 

macarons

(I nominate macarons as the preppiest dessert ever -

 look at those colors!  Not to mention their very adorable size!)

and 

sangria, 

(the fruit combined with the antioxidant, heart healthy benefits of wine practically make sangria medicine.  Everyone knows that!)

among some of my other favorite delicious things, who could blame me?  I guess I can now see why he'd think that!

Sundae Night

After having Sunday Supper with my grandfather (our almost weekly tradition :) ), I convinced Kelly to have a 

Ice Cream with Me. 

I mean Sundays are for Sundaes, after all!  I can't tell you the last time I had a vanilla chocolate swirl soft serve cone, but I can tell you that the one I promptly devoured (after dropping the cone on the ground - I'm a cup & cone kind of girl for obvious reasons) was better than I remembered.   It was the perfect "nightcap" to a lovely weekend.

Happy Wedding Wednesday! 

Bridesmaid Dresses have arrived - a few weeks early.  Yay!  The dresses are gorgeous and look better than I ever expected - even on the hanger.  As you recall, the girls and I opted for cocktail length, "midnight" taffeta Amsale dresses.  The midnight color is so rich and is really the perfect shade of navy.  Additionally, the ruffle halter and ruffled v-neck dresses look fab together and perfectly complement each other.  I'm so happy with the dress choices and hope the ladies love them too.

Also, Mom may have potentially found her MOB Mother of the Bride dress.  Yay!  It's a lovely silvery/greyish/pewter lace number that looks great on her! 

I've got some serious competition on September 8, that's for sure!

Margaritas!

After a lovely weekend spent with some of my favorite people at a family wedding in the Land of Milk & Honey, I was having a hard time getting back into the groove of the week.  Kelly and I decided to prolong the weekend a little longer and indulged in a work-week Marg.  Tuesday through Friday seem much easier to take on after a delicious margarita, on the rocks, with salt.  You should try it next Margarita Monday!

It's no secret that I adore

lobster and lobster rolls 

(rumor has it that I polished off my first lobster under a year old.  
Keepin' it classy since birth!),

as such I've been dreaming of a

clambake wedding

"I want to go to there!"

since we began the planning process.




While we did explore that option, but it just didn't "make sense" to seriously pursue that for our reception for a variety of reasons.  But, you know how I get once I get an idea in my head - I've been like a woman possessed trying to fit a clambake into our wedding, namely the rehearsal dinner.  Although Kelly has the patience of a saint, I've definitely been testing him lately trying to make this vision work.  Namely, he was all-set to sign a contract for a lovely family-style Italian place and be done with the RD project, when I decided that it wasn't "us" and "too fussy."  I just want a really relaxed RD with burgers, lobsters, cold beer and good company, because I feel that suits us better (PS Kelly agrees, but he could make the Italian place work and not have to worry about this). 


I realized the other day, while watching My Best Friend's Wedding, that maybe the reason I'm fixated on the lobster roll Rehearsal Dinner has less to do with the lobsters

and more to do with the fab sing-a-long (I'm a sucker for an impromptu, choreographed musical number) featuring dancing servers with lobster claw hands (it gets me every. single. time) during the Rehearsal Luncheon in My Best Friend's Wedding... AND they're eating lobsters!  


Aside from being mortified by the impromptu sing-a-long, that Rehearsal looks like the most fun!  

An Open Book

It seems as though I'm an open book.  All of my loved ones knew exactly what I'd love to get for my 27th birthday (maybe from the help of some well-placed hints)! 

Despite strict orders otherwise, Kelly still spoiled me with

(and bubbly of course, because birthdays are for bubbles!)

and dinner at my most favorite restaurant in Beantown

I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday, let alone a Tuesday evening.

As well as a pair of Toms and a truly delightful family dinner at their home.  The presents were great, although entirely unnecessary (but still very much appreciated).  I am a very lucky girl and look forward to all the adventures 27 holds!

Since I'm on a DIY kick these days, I've been wondering what other accouterments I could make for the Wedding.  I'm particularly enamoured with monkey's fist knots for the table numbers

Don't you think those would look great next to a big ice cream scoop of hydrangeas or a nautical lantern!?

I have found a couple of sites that offer them already made, but after some light You Tube tutorial searching I found that 1.) they're not too difficult to make, and 2.) can be made for a fraction of the cost of buying.  I think it would be a fun, pretty simply project with the help of family and friends.  What do you think?  Would you want to help me make monkey's fist knots for the wedding?  

Happy June!

Many of you already know, but June is my birth month.  While my birthday is June 5, I feel like one day is just not enough time to celebrate my existence (said the girl who's destination birthday party in yesteryear was the self-proclaimed social event of the season).  As such, I typically spend the entire month of June celebrating what a lucky girl I am and how lucky all of you are to know me!  


I kicked off the festivities this weekend with splish of champagne with Sull (keepin' it classy) before celebrating Kelly's completion of Level 3 of the CFA Exam.  As if that wasn't enough, I spent the day yesterday with good company and cold beers before going to the Celtics game with Kelly last night.  


I'm a very fortunate girl and am very grateful for all of the early birthday wishes and spending the weekend around some of my most favorite people.  However, two things became glaringly apparent to me when I both went into work early and worked very late: 1.) I'm not as young as I once was, and 2.) it must not be forgotten that I need to pour myself into a wedding dress in a little over three months.  It has also been brought to my attention that celebrating for an entire month and getting down to one's trophy wife weight (or TWW as we call it 'round here) are inversely proportional.  Which begs the question, 

"Is butter booze a carb?!?!"

If so, I'm on an all carb diet til June 30 (inclusive).  Ok, fine, until July 5.  I am a Patriot, after all.
